The NPT night shelter scheme has just completed its first year with five churches around NPT offering overnight shelter, warmth and food for local homeless men and women. The churches that were involved as venues were Skewen Methodist Church, The Salvation Army, Skewen branch, Baglan Community Church, Sandfields Methodist Church and Saint Mary’s Church, Aberavon.
Housing Justice Wales managed the scheme with help from the Welsh Assembly and NPTCBC. The scheme relied upon volunteers drawn from members of the above Churches, other denominations and non church goers. We are all working towards rolling out a similar scheme in “year two” where it is hoped to offer Night Shelter for each day of the week from the beginning of January to the end of March 2020. week and train up more volunteers.
May we thank all those who have contributed to the NPT Night Shelter
