Ann retired recently from her post of organist, having completed 60 years service. The presentation was made by Mr Clem Raymond – a local preacher and lay worker in the Neath Port Talbot Methodist Circuit.
Ann was very apprehensive about the idea of a presentation, but she delighted us all by explaining how her mother had been asked by one of the church leaders if she would consent to Ann having organ lessons at the church’s expense. It seems that Ann had agreed to the lessons, but her mother insisted on paying for them!
When Ann began to play in public she was very nervous about getting the tempo correct, so the choir master sat with her near the organ and beat time on his leg to assist her.
Clem pointed out that it was fitting to make this tribute to her at the Harvest as we recognise God’s varying gifts to all.
